Attadale, WA
By Lauren McCaleb · Reviewed by Dylan Duncan ·
Attadale is a quiet riverside suburb on the southern bank of the Swan River, set midway between central Perth and the port of Fremantle within the City of Melville. It began as the first subdivision of A. P. Matheson's Melville Water Park Estate, and takes its name from an estate in the Scottish Highlands on the southern shore of Loch Carron. The suburb is best known for its generous foreshore, where a broad band of parkland along Burke Drive gives residents open lawns, walking paths and room to exercise their dogs beside the water. Leafy streets of family homes rise gently from the riverbank, served by long-established local schools and an easy run along the highway toward both the city and the coast.
