Boat Harbour Beach, TAS
By Lauren McCaleb · Reviewed by Dylan Duncan ·
Boat Harbour Beach is a small seaside township on the north-west coast of Tasmania, about 15 kilometres from Wynyard, where a sheltered bay opens onto Bass Strait. It was originally known as Jacobs' Boat Harbour, after Captain John Jacobs, a master of small coastal vessels; the post office opened under the shorter name in 1878. Tucked beneath the green hills of the coast, the small settlement is strung along its beach and has long served as a quiet holiday spot for people from the surrounding district and nearby Wynyard. It lies among the bays and headlands of this stretch of the north-west coast, between Wynyard to the east and the bushland of Rocky Cape to the west.
