Jurien Bay, WA
By Lauren McCaleb · Reviewed by Dylan Duncan ·
Jurien Bay is a coastal town on the mid-west coast of Western Australia, in the Shire of Dandaragan, a few hours' drive north of Perth. The town grew as a fishing settlement and remains a centre for the western rock lobster industry, one of the state's most valuable fisheries, with crayfishing long central to the local economy. Offshore, the Jurien Bay Marine Park protects a stretch of reef, seagrass and island habitats popular with divers, anglers and boaters. Once a quiet fishing and holiday spot, Jurien Bay has grown into a service town for the surrounding district and a base for visitors exploring this part of the Western Australian coast.
