Pingelly is a wheatbelt town in Western Australia, about 158 kilometres south-east of Perth along the Great Southern Highway, in the Shire of Pingelly. The name is Aboriginal in origin, taken from the Pingeculling Rocks north of the town and first recorded in 1873. Pingelly began as a siding on the Great Southern Railway, which opened in 1889, and the townsite was gazetted in 1898. It remains a farming centre serving the surrounding wheat and cereal country, with a grain receival site operated by the CBH Group, and sits on the coach route between Perth and the state's Great Southern region.
